Loneliness- An inevitable truth in the Old Age – Anvayaa

Loneliness is the biggest concern these days in modern times. Everyone is afraid to be alone as loneliness is a grave concern to cope with. The loneliness problem becomes severe with the ageing. Senior citizens found the phase of ageing very demanding physically, emotionally and financially.
Loneliness is more profound in the senior citizen when they are more susceptible to emotional and physical changes. According to the population census of 2011, there are about 104 million senior citizens, 53 millions of them are female citizens, and 51 million are male senior citizens.  In the old age, after working for thirty to forty years, there comes a stop where you are no longer in the working chain but retired and there comes the ugly truth of life, loneliness when you are not connected with your colleagues on a daily basis, children are away from home for study or work, neighbours of your age have been moved out or died.

Things to do in the Old Age

Forget about your age and make those last years of your life the golden years of your experience when you are free from every social responsibility. Make those years, the happiest years of your life by fulfilling your wishes which were buried somewhere due to obligations.

Find Your Hobby

The hobby which you ignored all of your life can be done now. You have ample amount of time, so no time constraint to pursue a hobby. You can choose anything you want to do, like gardening, music, cooking, travelling and so on.

Volunteer for Something

Use your time wisely and in accordance with your taste. You can volunteer for anything you like to do. You can choose from any volunteer group or club. There are so many options to choose from like golf club, quilting clubs, cards, clubs, etc.

Be Creative

You can be creative by doing some different types of activities in the comfort of your home like organizing parties for little kids to teach them some fun things, host a little group party for neighbouring kids and tell them some exciting stories.

Pet Adoption

Pet adoption can prove an excellent decision of your life because a pet can accompany you everywhere. A pet can fill that void in your life which you face after retirement in the old age. You can adopt any pet like dog, cat, turtle or rabbit. As some said, “Old age: the crown of life, our play’s last act.”

Play the last of your life fully, which makes you alive again. Collect all those memories which were lost somewhere because of your hectic schedule and rat-race of mundane life. Have some greatest moments of your life with yourself.
